About

About

Tone Theory is a South Korean luxury makeup brand rooted in the belief that beauty should adapt to you—not the other way around. Inspired by the dynamic nature of skin—its shifts in tone, light, and texture—the brand introduces a new era of skin-adaptive makeup powered by K-beauty science and minimalist design. With a product lineup focused on tone synchronization, radiant skin, and minimal coverage, Tone Theory redefines what modern, intelligent beauty feels like: effortless, sculptural, and honest.

Challenge

Challenge

Challenge

To create a full visual identity and packaging system that embodied the brand's philosophy:
Makeup that doesn’t mask, but moves with the skin. The objective was to translate this into a tactile, emotional, and elevated product experience, while standing apart from the saturated luxury beauty space. The packaging had to feel technologically advanced, yet sensually human—light-responsive, fluid, and minimal—without losing its aspirational tone.

Our Approach to The Project

Our Approach

We designed Tone Theory as an object of adaptation—where packaging becomes an extension of the skin's natural rhythm. The primary packaging is sculptural and sensorial, with organic curves wrapped in gold architectural frames, referencing fluidity, ritual, and the fusion of softness with structure. The secondary packaging uses soft-touch materials, vertical typography, and blind embossing to evoke quiet luxury. Messaging is intentionally sparse, with short poetic phrases inside each box and a QR scan to deepen user engagement beyond the physical product.
